Refurbishment Service
Refurbishment of Donated Nursery Equipment
Cot-age recycles everything from a buggy except the squeak!
We can use almost any item of nursery equipment from large items such as cots, prams and highchairs, to baby clothing, bedding and toys. All items are stripped down, cleaned and repaired as necessary. We also accept small electrical items such as bottle warmers and monitors which our staff are trained to test before redistribution. Items which are unsafe or cannot be repaired are broken down into component parts and materials recycled.
We ensure that all equipment is fitted with appropriate safety equipment such as harnesses and whenever possible we provide new mattresses for cots.
FOR SAFETY REASONS WE CANNOT ACCEPT
- Car seats of any type or age
- Mattresses which are in poor condition, made from ventilated foam or not carrying a standard mark
- Baby walkers
All refurbished items are redistributed to families in need, following referral from health and social care professionals. Despite this we have a long waiting list for some items.
The Big Lottery Community Recycling Economic Development (CRED) “Cot Age Nursery Re-equip Project”, which commenced in 2005, has substantially increased quantities of equipment available by providing a van to collect from donor households. This has encouraged families to recycle bulky items and raised awareness of environmental issues, together with training in recycling through work experience and volunteering opportunities in the workshop.
