Home Safety Equipment Fitting Service
The safety equipment fitting service aims to enhance the carer's ability to provide a safe and nurturing environment for young children in need, through the provision and fitting of safety gates, fireguards and smoke alarms in family homes. All equipment fitted is newly purchased or purpose built in our workshop.

Service Partners
Sure Start Programmes in Sheffield and Rotherham provide funding for the service in each of their areas. These areas are all known to have high poverty factors.
In Sheffield, the Primary Care Trust provide funding for a Home Safety Fitter to visit families in need living outside designated areas of poverty.
We are grateful to South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Community Safety Team who provide training for fitters in fire safety issues and free smoke alarms to install in family homes. In one 3 month period, smoke alarms installed by Cot-age saved at least 11 lives in the South Yorkshire area.
